Recreational Golf Cart Body Panels

The project highlighted here was designed for use in the recreational vehicle industry and manufactured from customer supplied drawings which were modified to meet our RIM Manufacturing Process. MRC produces all of the exterior body panels on the vehicle. MRC performed the reaction injection molding of the parts, as well as the trimming, packaging, and painting. The products were composed of Bayflex® 110-80 Polyurethane, material with improved release and heat sag characteristics, at a thickness of 0.125″. The final products weighed from 2 to 18 pounds with normal tolerances. These high precision parts were manufactured with the aid of 90 ton to 150 ton reaction injection molding (RIM) presses as well as a metering unit and featured a natural/white, Class A paint finish. During the fabrication process, quality was ensured with the use of part weights tracking and filler content confirmation. The project represents a total run of multiple parts for 1,000 vehicles per year and was delivered in ten weeks.
